Evidence
The campaign's credibility is the only real asset it has. A single bad number would be used to discredit the whole argument, and rightly so. So everything is here: every figure, where it came from, how confident we are in it, and the arithmetic in between.
We would genuinely rather be corrected than be wrong. If something on this site does not stand up, tell us and we will fix it in public with a note saying what changed.
- Data explorer Filter by division and season, switch metric and chart type, read the table, download the filtered subset.
- Glossary Solidarity, parachutes, the backstop, steps and divisions, in plain English and deep-linkable.
How we mark confidence
Every numeric fact in our data carries one of two markings, and the interface shows it wherever the figure appears — not only in a tooltip.
- Confirmed
- Taken from a primary source published by the organisation the figure is about, and read by a maintainer.
- Our estimate
- Arithmetic we did ourselves on sourced inputs, such as dividing a cycle total by the number of seasons. The working is always shown.
The awkward bit
Our funding flow diagram carries figures from five different periods. The revenue is from the 2025–29 cycle, the wider-game commitment covers 2022 to 2025, the parachute total is 2020-21, the solidarity per-club figures are 2024-25, and the Stadium Fund figure is from 2022.
That is not sloppiness and we have not hidden it: every ribbon on the diagram states the season its number actually comes from, and the caption lists them. It is like that because nobody publishes a single consolidated annual table of where football's money goes. We could not build one from public sources in any less compromised way.
Which is exactly why our fourth ask exists. If the leagues published one file a year, this page would be a paragraph long.
Tell us we are wrong
There is a dedicated route for this, and it goes to a person rather than a form queue: data@fairsharefootball.com.
Useful corrections look like: the figure is out of date and here is the newer one; the figure is right but the label is misleading; the arithmetic is wrong; the source does not say what you say it says. All four have happened to us and all four were welcome.
